I loved the controller. I have a red xbox 360 so it matched well, and it came with a play and charge kit, so it was even better. The controller works like any other Xbox 360 controller, however I've yet to have any weird "please reconnect controller" issues with it that I sometimes have with my other battery powered controller, which is a good thing, especially in the middle of a heated shooter match. Good buy, worth the price if you need another controller.
This controller is just like the rest except it harnesses a very atractive red color and instead of grey it has black to compliment it which i think goes very well hand in hand with red. if your looking for an upgraded better version of the controller, this isn't it. they only changed the color and i love this controller simply because it matches my limited edition resident evil 5 jasper elite xbox 360 which is also the same colors red and black. except the difference between this controller and the one that comes with the resident evil 5 special edition xbox's is that that this one has a play and charge kit with it as well.
Bought this for my son for Christmas. Doesn't show dirt as much as the white. He uses it almost everyday. The red is a great color (matches his wall). Wireless is great. He has had it for 6 months now and so far it still works great.
If there were any viable 3rd party option (Saitek is mostly a PC gamepad and MAdCatz has sucked for ages) I'd go with them in a heartbeat. God forbid you try to mod the thing, M$ uses security pins in all the wireless controllers to prevent you from customizing or repairing the equipment you paid $50 for.
I swear they make these things with the intent of having them break like glass. It's not like a wireless controller some new invention.
Microsoft is the shadiest company on the planet. Yet I can't get a replacement for my Halo edition green controller or buy any cool 'ice' controllers (see through chasis) which Sony has offered for over a decade.
They don't even have the typical variety of colors, if you want anything but white and black, you need to buy a special edition xbox to go with it. It's about time they sell a red controller solo, but of course it's not just the controller, you have to buy the charger kit that comes with it too.
I'm glad I bought a 360 but it's such a hassle to replace these crappy controllers after only a few short months. 360: A+360 peripherals: C-
My favorite color is red, so naturally I wanted this controller as soon as I saw it. I have a feeling they've started using cheaper materials to cut costs. The first one I purchased was broken, though; the battery pack would not hold a charge. After exchanging it for another it has worked well enough, although it feels a bit lighter and more cheaply made than my other 360 controllers. Overall, I suppose I don't have any real complaints about the controller, and the red color is very sexy. Just make sure to save your receipt in case yours doesn't work when you get it home.
